From 1 January 2025, individuals will need to prove their immigration status online, removing the need for a physical BRP card. This change is being implemented to streamline the process and improve security by moving towards digital verification of immigration status.
What happens if an individual’s permission to stay in the UK lasts longer than their BRP?
Individuals do not need to apply for a replacement BRP.

If they have not been contacted by the Home Office, they do not need to do anything yet. They’ll be able to set up access to your eVisa later in 2024.
They can keep using their existing BRP until it expires.
